Viagra Information
Viagra (Sildenafil) is approved for the treatment of
men who have difficulty having and maintaining an erection
(impotence). Sildenafil Citrate is the active chemical
that relaxes muscles in the penis therefore improving
blood flow.
Viagra comes as a tablet to take by mouth. It should
be taken as needed about 1 hour before sexual activity.
However, it can be taken anytime from 4 hours to 30
minutes before sexual activity. Viagra should not be
taken more than once a day. Do not take more or less
of it or take it more often than prescribed by your
doctor.
Viagra side effects
All medicines can cause some side effects. The most
commonly experienced side effects are headache, upset
stomach, and facial flushing. Less common side effects
include bluish vision, blurred vision, or sensitivity
to light. These side effects are temporary and only
last a few hours. If you experience nausea or an erection
that lasts longer than 4 hours, stop taking Viagra and
seek medical help.
In rare instances, men have reported an erection that
lasts many hours. You should call a doctor immediately
if you ever have an erection that lasts more than 4
hours. If not treated right away, permanent damage to
your penis could occur. Heart attack, stroke, irregular
heart beats, and death have been reported rarely in
men taking This meddication. Most, but not all, of these
men had heart problems before taking this medicine.
It is not possible to determine whether these events
were directly related to Viagra.
The most common side effects are:
- Headache
- Visual changes like blurred vision
- Dyspepsia
- Facial flushing
- Nasal Congestion
- Upset Stomach
- Rhinitis
- Diarrhea
- Increased sensitivity to light
Side effects will occur more often as the dosage increases.
The most serious reported side effect is blue tinted
vision. Viagra can block the breakdown of cyclic GMP
in the cone cells of the retina leading to perception
of blue. This meddication can also cause dilation of
blood vessels in other body parts, causing fainting
and headaches.
